    Police Beat: April 26

    Girl gone “apeshit”

A UA student reported having been assaulted north of Nogales, Ariz., at 11 p.m. on April 20.

A Campus Health nurse notified UAPD of the incident on April 22, due to a requirement that all student assaults be reported to police. The student was reporting an injury to the left side of her head and ear that resulted from a friend. The student believed that she needed to go to a quick care clinic for additional treatment to her non-life threatening injuries.

The student said while at a party in Nogales, a friend, who may have been under the influence of prescription drugs and alcohol, went “apeshit” and hit her.

The student said she knew who was responsible for hitting her but wished not to identify the individual.

The student said she did not wish to pursue charges and that she would seek further medical evaluation.

“Stranded” man on bike steals phone

A UA student reported her iPhone stolen after allowing an unknown man to borrow it because he was “stranded” outside of Villa del Puente Residence Hall at 2:45 p.m. on April 21.

A UAPD officer then spoke with the woman regarding the theft. The student had been doing homework outside when a man rode up on a bike and asked to use her phone, saying he was “stranded” and needed to call for a ride.

The man then held the phone to his ear before riding off. The student used her laptop to lock the phone and track its location.

Police then dispatched to two locations where the tracker showed the phone had been last but were unable to find the described man.

The student said she wished to press charges and wanted her property returned.
