The Arizona men’s and women’s track and field teams got off to a strong start at the Lumberjack Invitational in Flagstaff on Saturday.
The meet was highlighted by several Arizona athletes qualifying for the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
Junior shot putter Zach Lloyd, junior pole vaulter Gabriella Duclos, and sophomore high-jumper Jasmin Day and long-jumper Jordan Powell all qualified for the NCAA Championships on the first meet of the season.
Arizona athletes placed first in seven different events, including finishes of first and second in the women’s high jump and women’s pole vault, two events that Arizona head track coach Fred Harvey believed would be strong points for his team this year.
