Wildcat Begins Publishing Five Time a Week

    April 21, 1965

The Wildcat begins publication as a University daily newspaper today.

The Wildcat will be published Monday through Friday on a five-times-a-week basis henceforth.

The change has been approved by the student-faculty board of publications.

Charles S. (Bumps) Tribolet, director of Associated Students, said that the Wildcat would e able to continue publishing the remainder of the year on the funds approved by the Senate Appropriations Board last September.

The Wildcat is financed by its advertising and a subscription fee from Associated Students. The advertising pays for 85 per cent of the Wildcat’s cost.

Next year’s staff will take over publication of the Wildcat on Monday. Frank Sotomayor, 1965-66 editor, will announce his staff selection Monday.

The increase in the number of editions will make available several more positions on the staff.

Four years ago there were six students on the staff when the Wildcat was published twice a week. A staff of 13 edited the Wildcat when it began publishing three times a week in February, 1962.

The Wildcat has been published four times a week since last September under a staff of 20. Sotomayor say his staff would b larger than this year’s staff.
