“On the spot: Will Groos, criminal justice senior”

    What’s your favorite drinking game?

    Beer pong.

    I figured, but why?

Uh, well I’m a basketball player so I enjoy it. It’s kind of similar I guess.

How would you describe your pong game?

    Like how good am I?

How would you describe your style? Like, I play good defense but I can be a streaky shooter.

Well, after a few drinks I definitely pick up my game. But I’d say my follow through is definitely the best part of my game.

So do you get the rainbow shot going or do you throw it like a dart?

I don’t throw lasers. I really like to get it up, definitely.

What’s the most epic game you’ve ever been involved in?

I was in a game that went on for at least, like two hours.

Wow. How many overtimes was that?

Actually it was because nobody could hit a cup. (Laughs) It was really bad.

So it was epically horrible then?

Yeah, it was. But finally my team pulled it off. Actually, it was thanks to my partner. It wasn’t even me.

If you could pong it up against anybody in the world, who would you throw down with?

    Any single person?

Yeah, if you could pick your pong opponent, who would it be?

Wow. Uh, wow that’s a tough question. (Pause) Uh, I’d have to go with, hmm. God damn. (Pause) I’m going to say my favorite actor, Denzel Washington.

Really? You’d pong against Denzel? (Laughs) You’ve got to talk me through that choice.

(Laughs) I don’t know. I watched the movie “”Training Day”” recently and, I don’t know, he seems like a pretty tough guy in that movie. I think he’d be a good pong player.
