    W-golf signs two players

The UA women’s golf team has signed Kyndall Ardoin and Sherlyn Popelka to national Letters of Intent for the class of 2009-10, head coach Shelly Haywood announced Tuesday.

“”We could not be happier to have both of these ladies joining our program,”” Haywood said. “”They will both fit in well here and could very well play right away upon their arrival.”” Ardoin, a native of Gibsland, La., attends Glenbrook High School. She is a two-time Louisiana state champion and is currently ranked No. 24 by Golfweek and No. 14 in her class by the Junior Golf Scoreboard.

“”One of the things I like most about Kyndall is that she’s very competitive and that she’s very athletic,”” Haywood said. “”She loves golf and she wants to get better.””

Popelka was born in Zurich, Switzerland, but trains in Reunion, Fla. She has attended the Annika Academy, owned by UA alumna and LPGA star Annika Sorenstam, and has been trained by Henri Reis, Sorenstam’s swing coach.
