This year’s band will fulfill 45 public engagements including home football and basketball games, Homecoming, Rodeo, and Armistice Day parades, pep sessions and assemblies.

After the marching season is over, the group will organize a concert band. Three concerts are planned for second semester. Due to a limited budget, only one out-of-town trip can be made. This year the band will visit Tempe for the annual Arizona-Tempe football game.

During spring vacation, band members will make a tour of 15 high school throughout Arizona. They will play in the Flagstaff area and also present programs at all the Phoenix high schools.

There are approximately 55 freshmen in this year’s band. Membership is still open to interested and qualified people, according to Band Director Jack Lee.

Lee is starting his fourth year as director. Before coming to Tucson four years ago Lee was marching band director for the University of Michigan. Drum majors for the band are Shirlee Demchak and Ken Teel.
