Hawking takes off on zero-gravity flight

Theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, who is almost completely paralyzed in a wheelchair by Lou Gehrig’s disease, will go on a weightless flight on April 26, according to Zero Gravity Corp. in Florida. A modified Boeing 727 will reach 32,000 feet, then plunge 8,000 feet so Hawking can experience 25-second snippets of zero gravity.

    UA4Food kick-off

UA4Food, the university’s annual food drive, will begin today at Main Gate Square along East University Boulevard at 4 p.m. The event will feature live music from Carnivaleros, JazzWerx and Mariachi Las Aguilitas de Davis, a canned food drop-off, face painting, a silent auction and a raffle. All proceeds benefit the Davis Elementary School Snak Pak Program.

    Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss!

From the guy who brought us Thing 1 and Thing 2, it only seems appropriate for his legacy to be honored in Thing 3. If you spot a Wampus on campus or a Flaza at the Alumni Plaza, invite them for some “”Green Eggs and Ham.””
