Anti-Proposition 107 rally today

Former President Peter Likins, college deans, faculty and students will speak against Proposition 107, also known as Protect Marriage Arizona. The rally will be at 12:30 p.m. on the main stage of the UA Mall today.

Bands gear up for battle

The annual Battle of the Bands kicks off tonight on the Mall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event, which is hosted by the University Activities Board, will continue tomorrow night and conclude Friday night.

Proposition 200 re-instated

The U.S. Supreme Courted ruled Friday that Arizona’s voter-ID requirement, passed in 2004 as Proposition 200, can be enforced for the November election, overturning the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision to put Prop. 200 on hold. The Supreme Court did not rule on the long-term fate of the law, but said the 9th Circuit made a procedural mistake by not explaining its decision, according to The Associated Press.
