The UA team defeated the defending national champion Denver Harlequins 50-41 yesterday, earning its first tournament win in its 18 years of existence. Three Arizona athletes received tournament awards, including Derrick Helton, who was named the most valuable player. “”They played perfect rugby for the whole game,”” said UA head coach Bryan Barten. “”Two perfect halves of rugby.”” The victory will boost the team’s seeding in tournaments this spring, including the national championships in April.
