    Staff Picks

Arizona at No. 17 Washington State

As an avid fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers, I understand completely what a one-man basketball team looks like. While Jerryd Bayless is far from LeBron James – my lord and savior – he has done as good a job carrying the Wildcats as Bob Barker did the “”Price is Right.”” Drew Carey is the new host, however, and we all know how good the show is now. Jerryd’s heroics have gone far enough and a ranked team will pick it apart like a third grader’s nose.

Arizona barely escaped with a win last time these teams hooked up, and Wazzu was in the midst of the worst stretch in its season. Winning any game in the Pacific 10 Conference is tough, even more so on the road. I don’t think Arizona will be able to steal another win unless somebody besides Jerryd Bayless makes some shots. Look to Arizona to keep it close, but Wazzu should win this one.

Even though the Wildcats are considered to be in a slump, I think they are going to pick up their performance against Washington State. The key to success for Arizona will be its defense. The Wildcats need to shut down Washington State’s four double-figure scorers, without drawing the foul. Derrick Low leads the league in 3-pointers, but by the way Arizona freshman Jerryd Bayless has been racking up points, Low may become pretty average looking.
