After losing to Washington State University by 13 points three weeks ago in Tucson the Arizona men’s basketball team bounced back in a huge way on Thursday night in Pullman, Washington. The Wildcats defeated the Cougars by a score of 63-58 to move to 18-3 overall on the season and 7-3 in Pac-12 play.
Azuolas Tubelis has totaled a double-double in the last three straight games. Tonight he had 18 points and 12 rebounds on 9-16 shooting from the field. This performance was his ninth double-double of the season.
Throughout the past five games, Kerr Kriisa has struggled shooting the ball from deep while being 24% from 3-point range, but that was not the case against the Cougars. Kriisa had five 3-pointers in the game as he scored 15 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists.
Since moving back to the sixth-man role, Pelle Larsson has been on fire. He was 5-8 from the field on Thursday while scoring 10 points. Larsson also grabbed five rebounds and assisted on three baskets.
In the three games that he has come off the bench this season, he is averaging 10 points, five rebounds on an incredible 62.5% shooting from the field.
Kylan Boswell continues to improve every game. In this contest, he put together a good stat sheet: nine points, three steals, two rebounds on 4-5 shooting from the field.
As a team, the Wildcats finished the game about 45% from the field, 36% from deep and 50% from the free throw line.
Arizona held Washington State to about 33% shooting from the field and 24% from 3-point range.
Arizona’s next matchup is against the University of Washington. This game is at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and is being broadcast on FOX.
