Caught Cone-Handed
A non-UA affiliated man was cited and released after attempting to steal a traffic cone at 2:30 a.m. on June 16.
A UAPD officer watched as a vehicle stopped on Park Avenue and a man opened the passenger door to pick up a traffic cone.
The car drove a few hundred yards forward and the passenger placed the cone in the road. The officer pulled the car over and questioned the man who said driver made him return the cone. The officer issued the man a citation, who then said that he was drunk and he deserved the ticket.
The driver and passenger were both released.
Hitchin’ A Ride
A non-UA affiliated woman was pulled over on Speedway Boulevard at 10:19 p.m. on June 15, after an officer saw a man wearing a cowboy hat and riding a mountain bike holding on to the back of her truck. When the officer pulled the truck over, the man fled the scene. The driver of the truck said that she did not know there was a man on the back of her vehicle. Officers later found the bike, the cowboy hat, and a backpack with a crack pipe at the 7-11 at Park Avenue and Speedway Boulevard.
Out of the blue
Officers responded to campus after a shirtless non-UA affiliated man activated one of the emergency “blue light” phones at 12:45 a.m. on June 11.
When they tried to approach him, the man ran into an alley between Arizona-Sonora and Árbol de la Vida Residence Halls. When officers found the man, he told them he pressed the button because he needed to talk to the police, but didn’t provide a reason.
Officers then found the man had two warrants out for his arrest for domestic violence charges. He was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail.
