If the shoe doesn’t fit
A UA student was arrested for driving under the influence on Tuesday at approximately 2:25 a.m.
Around 1:58 a.m., an officer from the University of Arizona Police Department pulled the vehicle over for swerving into the far left lane with the intention to turn and jerking the vehicle back into the right lane.
When the officer went to speak to the student, the student rolled down the back seat right window instead of his own. He then realized his mistake and rolled down the correct window.
While the student looked for his registration and proof of insurance, the officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from the student. The student also had watery, bloodshot eyes, a flushed face and slurred speech.
When asked to step outside the vehicle, the student was unsteady while he stood.
The officer then conducted a sobriety test, and the student failed. An assistant officer was called to complete the test.
The student asked officers if he could take his shoes off to perform the rest of the test because he didn’t have any laces in them. The officers agreed, though the student still failed.
He was taken back to UAPD for further questioning and testing, and was found to have a BAC of 0.8.
The student was cited and release for an extreme DUI and his vehicle was impounded.
Gamer problems
On Wednesday at approximately 2:35 p.m., a UAPD officer was called to investigate a suspicious note that a UA employee received.
While the employee was away from her work station, a note was placed on her desk containing a picture of a man holding money in one hand and a gun in the other.
After UAPD arrived, the employee then explained that she plays a game on her cellphone where she is part of a team against another team.
Earlier this year, a member of the rival team was banned from the game for telling other members that he carried weapons with him in real life and to never approach him on the street.
The employee then said that she did not feel her safety was in danger, but that it was the rival gamer saying he was back on the game.
She apologized to officers for the misunderstanding, and no further action was taken.
Slippery When Wet
On Monday at 3:08 p.m., a UAPD officer spoke to a UA student over the phone who claimed to have slipped on a freshly mopped floor in the Integrated Learning Center women’s bathroom.
The student said there we no sign about a wet floor, and when she went to use the bathroom between her classes around 9:50 a.m., she slipped and fell on her side.
She drove herself to urgent care to get an X-ray, which showed no broken bones.
She said she called UAPD to report the incident.
