Women’s Soccer

Current Arizona junior Ana-Maria Montoya is competing in her first Olympics for Colombia and in three games, Montoya played in Colombia’s loss to the United States Monday and recorded one shot. The Colombian team was 0-3 in their first three contests, and was eliminated from medal contention following Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to France.

Swimming

Former All-American Wildcat Nick Thoman won the silver medal in the 100-meter backstroke Monday night to Team USA teammate Matt Grevers, who trains at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.

Nicolas Oliveira, a three-time national champion at Arizona, representing Brazil placed fourth in the 4×100-meter freestyle, failing to advance to the final round. He also placed eighth in the 100-meter freestyle and did not advance to the semifinals.

Simon Burnett, competing for Great Britain competed Sunday night in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay, but did not advance to the final round.

Jean Basson and Darian Townsend, part of the South African team, finished fifth in the 4×100 freestyle relay final Sunday night. In the 4×200-meter relay, South Africa finished seventh with a time of 7:09.65.

Israel’s Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or competed in the 200-meter freestyle on Sunday, but failed to advance to the semifinal round, after placing second in the third heat.

Basketball

Former Arizona forward and current member of Team USA. Andre Iguodala has recorded seven points, six rebounds, seven assists, and four steals in two games against France and Tunisia.
