Arizona men’s golfer Creighton Honeck finished the season off with a bang, and the aftermath of his solid play continues to pay off.

In the same week the Wildcat senior notched his first career individual tournament victory at the Pacific 10 Conference Championships and was tabbed as a first-team All-Pac-10 performer, Honeck was named the Pac-10 Golfer of the Month Friday.

Honeck collected his individual Pac-10 championship by carding a 3-under-par for the tournament as he defeated UCLA’s Kevin Chappell – the Pac-10 Player of the Year – when he earned a birdie-3 on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff at The Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.

Honeck led or shared the team lead in tournament appearances (12), rounds played (35) and rounds at par or better (18). He posted three top-20 finishes, two top-10s and nine rounds in the 60s over the course of the season to go along with his 72.86 stroke average.

The award marks the first time Honeck has been named the Pac-10 Golfer of the Month.
