Breaking down 2019-20 UA employee salaries

According to the University of Arizona’s 2019-20 financial records, the UA had an employee salary budget of $891 million for its over 12,000 non-student employees. With this data acquired from the university through a public records request, the Daily Wildcat has created the 2019-20 UA Employee Salary Database.

According to the database, the four highest paid UA employees were Sean Miller, the head coach of men’s basketball, who made $2,400,000; Peter Nakaji, the chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, who made $1,550,000; Kevin Sumlin, the head coach of football, who made $1,100,000; and Dr. Robert C. Robbins, president of the UA, who made $898,625.

The highest paid woman listed was Taylor Riall, the interim chair of the Department of Surgery. She was the sixth-highest paid person listed, making $716,813.

According to the database — available in full format at this link, or viewable below – of the 100 highest paid UA employees, seven of them belonged to the Athletics Department and 88 of them belonged to the Health Sciences Department.
