The Dave Matthews Band released its seventh album, Away From The World, on Sept. 11. The album exhibits a similar sound to some of the band’s older work, incorporating songs reminiscent of its earlier days, like “Ants Marching” and “American Baby.”
Producer Steve Lillywhite, who helped with the production of their first three albums, has returned to the studio with the band for this seventh album, according to iTunes album review.
Debuting at number one on Billboard top 200, the Dave Matthews Band has reached a new level of greatness. On their website the band writes, “Away From The World also marks a new milestone for Dave Matthews Band in that we are the first group in chart history to have six consecutive studio albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200.”
They still incorporate their familiar sound into their tunes, but there are new additions that give the album a little something extra. Take a listen to “Broken Things” and “Rooftop” and you might hear it too. Overall, the album is a great addition to that “chill out” playlist we all have for some feel good music.
In the song “Gaucho,” the Dave Matthews Band incorporates a children’s choir in the chorus and background, giving it an inspirational feeling. They come in toward the end of the song chanting, “We gotta do much more than believe if we really wanna change things.” Another one of Dave Matthews Band’s feel good and do good songs.
Another great song on the album is “Snow Outside.” It is a more intimate song with just Dave Matthews singing and playing his guitar at the beginning, with drums coming in later. The slow melody has a slight hint of a southern feel to it, reminding listeners of the band’s roots in Virginia.
Their deluxe album has a 14-song track list, which includes three bonus tracks from live performances during their tour this past year. Away From The World deluxe album is running for $11.99 on iTunes.
