November 20, 2016. Freshman infielder Nick Quintana (13) during Arizona Baseball’s Wild vs Cats Fall World Series. Hi Corbett Field, Tucson, AZ.

In just his first week of college baseball, freshman third
baseman Nick Quintana was awarded Pac-12 Player of the Week.

This marks the 65th time in Arizona baseball
history that a player received this award but the first time a player opened
their career winning it. Arizona also nominated pitcher J.C. Cloney for Pac-12 Player of the Week.

Quintana also became the first Wildcat freshmen since Trevor
Crowe in 2003 to register a five-hit game in a series opener.

Arizona swept Eastern Kentucky last week, and Quintana was an
integral part to the team’s success.

In all four games against EKU, Quintana registered at least
one hit, including a 5-for-6 outing in the second game of the series. Along with
five hits, Quintana also recorded five runs batted in, three doubles and two
runs against EKU.

On the season, Quintana is batting .571 with an on base
percentage of .700 and a slugging percentage of .857. Quintana has accumulated
seven runs, eight hits, four doubles and six RBIs in his 14 at-bats.

Currently, Quintana leads the starters in batting average,
slugging, walks and on-base percentage, while ranking second in hits and runs
to J.J. Matijevic.

Arizona is averaging 12.25 runs a game with a batting
average of .379 and an on-base percentage of .481.

Wildcat baseball returns to Hi-Corbett Field this Thursday as
Mcneese State travels to Tucson. The first pitch is currently scheduled for 6 a.m. as Arizona will look to extend their winning streak to five.
