The Arizona No. 2 men’s and No. 4 women’s swimming and diving teams began fulfilling their goal of qualifying as many athletes as possible for the NCAA Championships yesterday, the first day of the Texas Invitational in Austin.
Sophomore Ana Agy earned an automatic bid in the 100-yard butterfly, and sophomores Carly Beaudreau and Caitlin Iverson qualified in the 200y individual medley.
Sophomore Jean Basson qualified for the men, in the 500y freestyle.
The men and women each won a 200y freestyle relay heat, but did not meet the time standard needed to make the NCAAs.
The invitational continues today and concludes tomorrow.
