Graphic sign on cover of Daily Wildcat unnecessary, offensive

I decided to glance at the front cover of the Daily Wildcat on Wednesday to get a glimpse of the protest pictures. Much to my horror, there was a sign with a woman painted with “”Higher Education”” written on her stomach and a coat hanger underneath. Is this really the image we want to represent the “”Number 1″” college newspaper? Any of the other pictures in the middle of the paper would have done just as much to emphasize the protest. Instead, we are subjected to a highly offensive sign that has nothing to do with protesting higher education.

Now you may say, ‘Hey if you don’t like it, don’t read the paper.’ I wouldn’t have to read it to be offended, all I would have to do is catch a glimpse of the front cover, which any student on campus for a day cannot go without being exposed to. I bet if the offensive cartoons about Obama were on the cover, then someone would care.
