    Women’s swim wins in Austin; men finish 2nd

    The Arizona swimming teams wrapped up a strong weekend at the Texas Invitational as the No. 4 women’s team won the meet with 859 points and the No. 2 men’s team finished second behind Texas with 610.5 points.

    Caitlin Iversen and Kathryn Thompson posted NCAA Championship-qualifying times in the 200-yard backstroke, while Taylor Baughman, Courtney Cashion, Anna Turner and Lindsey Kelly qualified in the 100y freestyle.

    Annie Chandler and Jacquelyn Craft qualified in the 200y breaststroke and the team of Turner, Cashion, Baughman and Emma Darlington qualified in the 400y relay.

    The women’s team had seven people post automatic qualifying times, and 14 people earned consideration for the Championships.

    The men’s team had four automatic qualifiers and 11 NCAA consideration times.

    Cory Chitwood and Albert Subirats qualified in the 200y backstroke, while Jake Tapp and Bryan O’Connor earned consideration.

    Nicolas Nilo, Jordan Smith, Darian Townsend and Joel Greenshields all earned consideration in the 100y freestyle.

    Subirats also qualified in the 200y breaststroke and helped the men’s 400y relay team of Nilo, Townsend and Greenshields qualify as well.

    Matt Biel earned consideration in the 1,650y freestyle.

    Jack Brown, Ivan Barnes and Josh Arreguin posted consideration times in the 200y breaststroke.
