It was a bittersweet night for Team USA head coach Mike Candrea watched his current team demolish his old team 16-0 at Hillenbrand Stadium last night.
“”I felt bad, but that’s part of competing. You get in those situations and you either face up to the challenge or you don’t,”” Candrea said. “”It’s a very emotional time for me to come in here and play against the team I coached. It was a very hard game to play, and I’m glad it’s over with to tell you the truth. Now I can move on to the rest of the (‘Bound 4 Bejing Tour’) and not worry about it and go kick on some people.””
Despite the lopsided final score, Candrea said this year’s Arizona squad will rebound from this loss and the three losses in the Kajikawa Classic and continue Arizona’s stellar softball tradition.
“”I think they need to go through some of those things and face up to the challenge,”” Candrea said of the Wildcats. “”They’re a good team and we had some rocky roads along the way last year, but you’ve just got to play through it and stay positive. I think they’re a very good ball club and they’ll do well.””
