Already lightened because of injuries, the Arizona secondary got a scare last night when cornerback Antoine Cason sprained his right ankle in practice. But after practice, UA head coach Mike Stoops said the junior “”should be fine.””
Injuries to safeties Michael Johnson (hamstring) and Dominic Patrick (stinger) had limited the secondary in Arizona’s 24-20 win over then-No. 8 California Saturday, but backups Michael Klyce and Corey Hall filled the void, finishing with a combined six tackles, three pass breakups and one interception.
Patrick, who didn’t play at all Saturday, is cleared and expected to play. Johnson, who was injured in the second quarter, remains questionable, Stoops said.
Wideout Syndric Steptoe partially practiced Tuesday and returned to full practice yesterday after injuring his leg late in Saturday’s game.
“”We kind of limited his volume”” on Tuesday, Stoops said. “”All our guys are kind of beat up right now, so we’re just trying to get them ready for Saturday.””
