University of Arizona Police Department officers received a call that a woman had been struck by a bicycle around 8:30 a.m. while crossing the underpass by Mcclelland Hall.
The woman, Courtney Wood, had been texting when she was struck. She was transported to the University Medical Center.
“”She had sustained some facial injuries, but I’m not sure what they were,”” said UAPD Public Information Officer Juan Alvarez said. “”They were not life threatening injuries though.””
Alvarez said that people should be reminded that staying alert is important because of the congestion and distractions like cell phones.
“”Sometimes, if we just pay attention, we may avoid putting ourselves in a situation where this can happen,”” Alvarez said.
