Head coach Caitlin Lowe has a meeting at the mound with her infielders on Friday, April 15, at Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium. The Wildcats would lose in five innings 11-3.

The Arizona softball team swept their regional hosted by Missouri this weekend, advancing them to the Super Regional for the eighth straight year and 16th time overall. Here is a look at how each game went down.

Friday: Arizona beats Illinois 8-3
With Hanah Bowen on the mound for the Wildcats, the University of Illinois struck first with 2 runs in the first inning. Izzy Pacho put Arizona on the board with a solo home run in the second inning. Sharlize Palacios and Allie Skaggs went on to power back-to-back home runs in the third inning to give the Wildcats a 4-1 lead.

After the rough first inning, Bowen was able to settle down. She tossed a complete game, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits to go along with eight strikeouts and one walk. Blaise Biringer capped off the afternoon with the fourth home run of the game for Arizona, blasting a 2-run home run in the fifth inning.

Saturday: Arizona beats Missouri 2-0

Bowen took the mound again for the Wildcats, delivering an outstanding performance as she shutout the Tigers. She allowed just four hits, working out of jams in the third and sixth innings with runners in scoring position and less than one out.

Arizona collected seven hits themselves with the biggest one of them all being a 2-run home run hit by Carlie Scupin.

Sunday: Arizona beats Missouri 1-0

It was another pitchers duel between the Wildcats and Tigers as Devyn Netz took the mound for Arizona.

Both teams went scoreless the first four innings before Palacios broke the 0-0 tie with a solo home run. That was all the Wildcats needed as Netz tossed a complete game shutout, allowing two hits to go along with three strikeouts and three walks.

The Wildcats will be headed to Starkville, Miss. next where they’ll be facing Mississippi State in the Super Regional, who upset No. 2 Florida State twice on Sunday. It is a best two-of-three series with the first game scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m. MST on ESPNU.
