Police caution tape is placed outside the Yugo apartments on Tyndall Avenue the morning of Sept.18. The area was blocked off following a shooting at the apartments last night.

Two people were shot at Yugo Apartments early on Sunday, Sept. 18, and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Tucson Police Department, the two victims found at the scene were a 19-year-old female and an 18-year-old male who were treated and released.

TPD responded to reports of a shooting at 2:30 a.m. on the morning of Sept. 18. The University of Arizona Police Department played a limited role in the investigation.

The shooting occurred at the off-campus student apartments at 1101 N Tyndall Ave. This complex was formerly known as the Hub Apartments, the name used in the UAlerts sent out to university faculty, students and others, but is now under the name Yugo Tucson Campus.

The university sent out a series of four UAlerts early on Sunday, the first at 2:59 a.m. and the last at 4:03 a.m. The alerts reported that a shooting had taken place at “Hub Apartments” and that police were looking for suspects. At 3:44 a.m., it was reported that a “subject of interest” had been apprehended and the area was declared all clear.

A 20-year-old male was arrested for weapons violations, but TPD states that he was not the shooter. The investigation remains ongoing.
