The Arizona women’s volleyball team will return home after a weekend of tough matches against the Oregon schools.
Arizona took a 3-2 win over the No. 20 Oregon Ducks Friday night, but was unable to carry over the win into Sunday against the Oregon State Beavers who won the match 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20) leaving Arizona to fall to a 14-10, 6-6 Pac-12 record.
The Wildcats and Beavers fought back and fourth as they continued to exchange points in the opening frame. The Beavers managed to tie the score 20-20, but outside hitter Kendra Dahlke made back-to-back kills to get Arizona the lead of 22-20. The Beavers kept the score close but was unable to fight off the ‘Cats who took the set 25-23.
The start of the second set was a battle, but the Beavers soon took a five-point lead 18-13. Arizona was able to recover the lost points, while Oregon State outside hitter Mary-Kate Marshall, 17 kills in the match, made set point for the Beavers 25-20.
The Beavers held a two-point lead throughout the third and was able to take the set 25-23. Arizona was not able to hold off Oregon State in the fourth set, leaving Marshall to make the set point 25-20 to take the match 3-1.

Four Wildcats were able to hit double digits in the match. Outside hitter Kalei Mau led the Wildcats with 23 kills along with 16 digs followed by Dahlke with 19 kills and nine digs. Libero Laura Larson led the ‘Cats with 17 digs while Penina Snuka had 51 assist making it her seventh straight double double of the season.
Arizona ended the match with a .195 hitting percentage.
The Wildcats now have two consecutive road trips with a victory over a ranked opponent followed by a loss to one of the bottom conference teams.
The Arizona Wildcats will be back at McKale Center this week in a match between USC on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. and UCLA on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m.
