Arizona’s Lawi Lalang takes NCAA cross-country title

Arizona freshman runner Lawi Lalang won the men’s 2011 NCAA cross-country title on Monday in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Kenyan native, in his first season with the cross-country team, won the 10,000-meter race in 28:44.10.

Lalang finishes the season without a loss, taking the NCAA Championship, NCAA West Regional and Pac-12 Championship in the process.

The Arizona women’s team placed 19th in the country in Monday’s championship event.
