UPDATE, April 21:
The University of Arizona Police Department arrested Djamel Benslimane in connection with the groping of a female UA student on the 1500 block of East Speedway Boulevard on Monday morning, according to a UAPD media release.
A UAPD patrol officer observed and matched Benslimane to the composite drawing of the assailant. Further investigation then led the victim to positively identify Benslimane as the assailant, which led to his arrest, according to the release.
A sexual abuse occurred this morning on the north sidewalk in the 1500 block of East Speedway Boulevard, according to an email by the University of Arizona Police Department. A female UA student was walking westbound when an unknown man came up behind her, wrapped his arms around her and grabbed her buttocks and genital area over her clothing.
The victim was able to push her attacker away and immediately called 911. The suspect fled northbound on Cherry Avenue, carrying two dark duffle bags. UAPD arrived at the scene but was unable to locate the suspect.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his mid-40s with salt-and-pepper hair and day-old facial hair. He was somewhere between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches in height, and stocky. He was wearing a Boston Red Sox baseball hat and a faded black or gray long-sleeved shirt, and pants. He had no visible tattoos or scars.
