UA sophomore Jay Goldman was named the Pacific 10 Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for March 9-15, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Monday.
Goldman won both of this singles matches last week, playing in the No. 1 slot for the Wildcats. The Worcester, Mass., native beat Cal Poly’s Andre Dome in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 on March 14. Then he beat Iowa’s Christian Bierich on March 15, 6-3, 6-2.
Goldman has won five straight singles matches, helping the Wildcats go on a 12-match winning streak.
This is the first weekly honor for Goldman, the third for the Wildcats this season and the sixth all-time for Arizona.
