The Tea Party: Recent primaries gave way to a new wave of anti-incumbency. Tea Party representatives won Republican Party nominations from Utah to Kentucky, including what may be the Party’s marquee victory when Christine O’Donnell claimed Delaware’s Senate nomination from nine-term Rep. Mike Castle.   

Frankenfish: Salmon born from genetically created eggs are currently undergoing testing from the Food and Drug Administration to determine if this spawn of science is safe for human consumption. The eggs, created by AquaBounty Technologies, give birth to fish that become fully-grown in half the time of a normal salmon. No word yet on whether the fish may soon gain self-awareness and a taste for human flesh.

Recessions: According to economists and other people who are paid to determine this sort of thing, the latest recession, the longest since World War II, officially ended in June of 2009. You might not have heard about it, since the federal government was unable to pay for Kinko’s to make them a “”Recovery Accomplished”” banner.

Funky food: Four Tucson restaurants that failed initial health inspections due to a combined 36 “”critical”” violations in August have cleaned up their act enough to pass on subsequent tries. We won’t say what restaurants they are because believe me; you’ll know how much they’ve improved when they serve your food.
