Lowe garners award for stellar baserunning
Former Arizona softball center fielder Caitlin Lowe was awarded the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Golden Shoe Award yesterday for her record-setting performance on the base paths last season.
The four-time All-American broke the school record in career stolen bases with 156, leading the way to the Wildcats’ second straight national title. She also was nearly perfect on the season with 49 swipes in 50 attempts.
Lowe recently won the Senior CLASS Award for softball, given to the sport’s most outstanding player nationally.
Lowe now plays with the USA softball team in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where she will play under Arizona softball head coach Mike Candrea.
