    3 things to know today

    ASUA applications available

    Applications for more than 65 appointed positions in the Associated Students of the University of Arizona are available in the ASUA office, located on the third floor of the Student Union Memorial Center. Applications are due by noon April 13, with interviews occuring the following week. All students are encouraged to apply. For more information, visit www.asua.arizona.edu.

    SPJ panel: Jailed for blogging?

    The UA chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will be hosting a panel to explore the ethics and legal issues of blogging, a controversial new frontier of journalism, at 6 p.m. in the Kiva Room of the Student Union Memorial Center.

    According to the Museum of Hoaxes Web site, the No. 1 April Fools’ Day prank (ranked by notoriety, absurdity and number of people duped) was in 1957, when a BBC news show reported the elimination of the harmful “”spaghetti weevil.”” Video footage of farmers harvesting spaghetti from trees prompted viewers to call in, asking how they could grow their own spaghetti tree.
