Damsel in distress

Two students were arrested on alcohol-related charges after police entered the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house to check on a report of a woman being carried into the house at 12:27 a.m. on Feb. 10.

When they got near the house, officers heard music and yells from inside. The doorman repeatedly refused to allow the officers inside, saying that they needed a warrant, but gave in when UAPD
threatened to force entry.

Police were then escorted into the common room, where about 100
people were gathered, including the woman they were looking for.

She said she’d entered the party 10 minutes earlier, but denied having been carried inside. She gave no signs of being under duress and was released from the scene.

Police then spoke with the chapter president outside and informed him that all non-members of the fraternity needed to leave the house.

A man who denied being a member of the fraternity was loitering outside so police asked him to leave.

“I’m going to fuck you up the ass,” he said, cupping his fist around his groin and gyrating in a sexual motion.

UAPD then questioned the man, who appeared to be underage.

“I’m sure in the fuck not 21,” he replied, before refusing to identify himself.

The student had watery bloodshot eyes and slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, but refused to take a breath test.

“No, that’s not necessary because I have been drinking tonight,” the student said.

He was then cited and released on charges of minor in possession and failure to provide identification. The party was reported to Greeks Advocating for the Mature Management of Alcohol for having more people than allowed at a non-sanctioned gathering.

Strangers in the night

A student was transported to University Arizona Medical Center after receiving a cut above his eye and showing signs of being assaulted at 2:53 a.m. on Feb. 10.

UAPD first saw him on Highland Avenue after investigating the sounds of a loud argument coming from the area. The student, who had a bloodied shirt and face, flagged down an officer. The officer immediately requested medical assistance because of the man’s injury.

The student said he was OK, but that he’d been “jumped” by five people behind Villa del Puente Residence Hall. He said he didn’t know who his attackers were.

He also had watery bloodshot eyes, smelled of intoxicants and slurred his words, but denied drinking.

When Emergency Medical Services arrived, they concluded the student’s cut would need stitches. When asked if he had a way of getting to UAMC, the student said he’d walk, so UAPD offered him a ride and the student accepted.

However, he refused to discuss any details of the assault with UAPD, and when asked if he’d pursue criminal charges, he responded, “No.”
