When UA forward Zane Johnson came out of his redshirt in the 15th game of the season Jan. 9 at ASU, he said UA interim head coach Kevin O’Neill promised him 10-12 minutes per game.
Johnson, a freshman, ended up averaging just 4.9 minutes per game while never playing more than eight minutes besides an 18-minute stint March 12 in the first round of the Pacific 10 Conference Tournament when O’Neill rested the starters during a rout of Oregon State.
Johnson said this “”disappointed”” him, adding he asked O’Neill “”a little bit”” about his lack of time during the season.
“”I came out of (the redshirt) because if you’re promised something and you don’t get it, it’s not right I guess,”” Johnson said. “”But I’m going to live with it and move on and not worry about it.””
