Tyler Baker / The Daily Wildcat One of the new streetcars was being tested yesterday on the streets of Tucson. Although not ready for public use, it is training and certifying drivers.

The Tucson Modern Streetcar will go through its first daytime test through campus today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Parking and Transportation Services sent an announcement through the streetcar listserv stating that the vehicle will not run “during passing periods” meaning operation will pause every 10 minutes before the hour.

Drivers will also be trained and certified during testing. The streetcar will be running along with traffic and police and streetcar employees will be in the area.

Safety information can be found in the Sun Link Streetcar website.
