Hockey tabs Hogan as head coach

The UA club hockey team has named Sean Hogan its inaugural head coach, UA Campus Recreation announced Tuesday.

Hogan won two American Collegiate Hockey Association National Championships as the head coach at Oakland University, where he is the all-time wins leader with a record of 87-50-7.

Hogan’s last position was as the Director of Video Operations at Western Michigan University.

“”I am very excited about being named head coach at the University of Arizona,”” Hogan said in a statement. “”I feel I am the coach that can best move UA hockey to the next level and am certain that we can compete year in and year out for the Murdoch Cup.””

Hogan said that his previous success has given him a blueprint for establishing a winning program.

“”””Having previously won two ACHA National Championships as a head coach I know what is necessary to compete nationally at this level,”” Hogan said. “”We will have a team that is very hard to play against and play an exciting brand of hockey that Arizona hockey fans can be proud of.””

Hogan is currently contacting players from last year’s team, and has begun recruiting for the upcoming season, which begins Sept. 30 against ASU.
