A UA student was tackled, handcuffed and taken away by police after getting into a scuffle with an officer on Monday evening behind Circle K on Speedway Boulevard and Park Avenue.
At approximately 6 p.m., suspect Alex Dunning, a pre-business major and forward on the UA hockey team, was confronted by police outside of 1125 N. De Niza.
According to Dwight Smith, the suspect’s neighbor, Dunning was acting irrationally and assaulted one of the police officers.
“”The tussle went on for a few minutes, he put up a good fight, and then jumped a fence and ran off toward Speedway,”” said Smith.
Tucson police officers pursued Dunning who ran to the corner of Speedway and Park where he was taken down and handcuffed by officers according to eyewitnesses.
