Retired Hall-of-fame head coach Lute Olson suffered from a small stroke over the past year, said his doctor Steven D. Knope, M.D.
Olson underwent an MRI yesterday, which revealed that the 74-year-old Olson suffered from a stroke in the frontal part of his brain, resulting in severe depression.
The stroke occurred sometime in the past year, but Knope could not pinpoint a precise time line.
Knope said there’s no need for any kind of surgery.
Olson is currently resting at home.
“”He was doing great over the summer and very much wanted to fulfill his obligation to his team,”” Knope said in a press conference at noon in McKale Center. “”Here’s a guy who was just frustrated but refused to give up.””
