The Wildcat men’s golf team received good news yesterday when it found out that senior Erik Oja and junior Alex McMahon were invited to the 2014 NCAA San Antonio Regional.
Oja and McMahon are two of 10 individuals that will compete at the San Antonio Regional.
The NCAA San Antonio Regional will be hosted by the University of Texas at San Antonio at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club from May 15 to May 17.
Along with being selected for the Regional Tournament, Oja was selected for the Palmer Cup. He competed in all 12 of the Wildcats’ tournaments this year, finishing in the top 10 eight times and finishing in the top 20 four times.
McMahon also competed in each of the Wildcats’ 12 tournaments and was the team’s top individual performer at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing in ninth place. He ended the season with four top 10 finishes and four top 20 finishes.
Regionals consist of six 54-hole tournaments over a three-day period. Three regionals will host 13 teams and 10 individuals, while the other three will have 14 teams and five individuals. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.
The NCAA Finals will be held at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas, starting May 23 and finishing on May 28.
