Fifteen pounds? More like five
In response to “Study ‘Freshman 15’ is a myth” (Nov. 15 issue):
Without a doubt I agree with this article. As a freshman, I don’t know anybody that has gained 15 pounds so far this semester or even close to it. I personally feel as though this statement may be an exaggeration of what freshmen actually gain. As far as I know, I gained about 3 pounds this semester which isn’t much considering the fact that many people gain or lose a couple of pounds here and there anyways. Yes, as freshman almost all of us eat junk food everyday; however, this doesn’t mean we are overly consuming junk food to the point where we gain 15 pounds. The saying “Freshman 15” should be more like “Freshmen 5.”
