Undergraduate-run Persona magazine submission deadline looms

Persona, an annual magazine of art and literature, is taking submissions through Feb. 10, and hoping to include a CD or DVD of film, dance, audio and other art forms not captured in two dimensions if the magazine can garner the submissions.

Run by UA undergraduates since 1978, the magazine focuses on getting student work read by peers and published, according to Erica Carlson, co-editor in chief of the magazine. “It’s hard to get into a literary magazine, but if you get into Persona, you get into the ranks of good writers and great artists. You get your work out there.”

The editors of the magazine will read all submissions and either approve, deny or flag for possible acceptance into the magazine with some tweaks. The amount of submissions accepted depends on how many works the editorial board receives.

Open to all majors, students are allowed to send literary pieces of poetry or prose less than 10 pages, artwork, dance, film or song submissions and anything that can’t fit in the magazine can go on a possible CD, DVD or on the website.

Go to personamagazine.wordpress.com for more information on how to submit, where to get old copies of the magazine and follow the process from submissions to the final hard copy, available April 19.
