Best Black Friday deals for college students

Sometimes it can be difficult to plan a Black Friday shopping trip. Without research on the best deals and a plan of what to look for, shopping can be overwhelming, ending in a failed and frustrating trip. Other than the obvious Best Buy, Walmart and Target electronics sales, it is important to know which stores have the best deals. Start with what items are needed and then look up Black Friday specials.

Here are a few stores to check out for clothing, accessories, shoes and other gifts:

Macy’s will open at midnight at various locations, but be sure to check online for the location nearest you. Macy’s will feature savings such as buy one, get one free sweaters, a free digital video camera with the purchase of a $65 fragrance and more.

H&M will open early and give out scratch-off tickets valued up to $300 to the first 100 people in line. Along with this offer, H&M will feature dresses and sweaters from $5, pants from $10 and outerwear from $20. Make sure you know what you are looking for, because there will be a lot of clothing to sift through and not everything will be on sale.

Victoria’s Secret usually holds deals in which, if you spend a certain amount of money, you get a certain amount of money off of your purchase. However, the Secret Reward Card promotion is going on now through Nov. 30 and can save you even more than Black Friday deals. When you purchase anything $10 or more, you get a rewards card valued between $10 and $500 for future purchases.

The problem with Black Friday research is that stores often do not like to advertise their deals ahead of time. If you cannot find out about sales at stores you still want to look at, make sure to strictly stick to your list of stores, and go in looking for only particular items. If you spend too much time in a store that does not have worthwhile deals, you may burn out too quickly. It is also important to remember that the early bird gets the worm. If you wait to go late in the day, sale items will be scarce and picked through. Furthermore, certain sales often end at 11 a.m. or noon.

The most important thing in Black Friday shopping is to plan ahead and research deals that you may be interested in. You also must get there early, know what you are doing and get plenty of rest the night before.

    Good luck and happy shopping!
