After GRUBHUB purchased Tapingo, a new form of delivery is available at Park Student Union and around campus. GRUB HUB delivery is located at The Den restaurant which is located at Park Student Union is now having delivery through GRUB HUB.

Grubhub has been introduced as the new, official on-campus delivery service for the University of Arizona as of the 2019-2020 school year. Tapingo, the previous on-campus food delivery app, was bought by Grubhub in November of 2018.

Like the previous Tapingo app, Grubhub allows students to continue to get their campus dining food in an easy and efficient manner. Grubhub offers students the ability to place an order for pickup or delivery, providing a solution to bypass the regular crowds during lunch and dinner time.

Many students were surprised to see this change occur upon the start of the school year because so many were used to the style and organization of Tapingo. Students like English and creative writing senior Kelly Esparza had a mixed reaction to the change.

“I would like to know why they changed it, because it was confusing at first, but it does seem much quicker,” Esparza said. “I think I will use it more than I have previously.”

Grubhub is well known for its wide range of off-campus delivery options, but the question remains of why it has been introduced on campus. Yera Ha, a spokesperson at Grubhub, was able to share some answers to this question.

“By combining Tapingo’s technology with Grubhub’s restaurant marketplace and [delivery] operations, we’re excited to offer college students greater convenience and wider dining options with a more efficient ordering experience,” Ha said in an email.

There are certain features about Grubhub that students may be excited about. Grubhub had over 85,000 partners, as of 2018, so students can look forward to expanded dining options either on campus or off.

Whether ordering for pickup or delivery, many restaurants do not apply fees when ordering through the app. As a result, students might be able to save money in the long run by ordering through Grubhub.

In addition, there are always promo codes available for use. When students activate their Grubhub account, they are added to an email list that regularly informs customers about discounts that can be applied to their account.

Students who already have a Grubhub account can add the campus dining option in the settings of their Grubhub app. If not, students are encouraged to download the app, create an account and add the campus dining option in their settings as well.
