    CD Review: Hypercrush

Damn son. Hyper Crush, the hip-hop, electro explosion fresh from San Fernando, Calif. has arrived.

Explanation of their musical moxie would be trivial; somewhere in the neighborhood of a SpankRock, Justice, Electric Six ménage Çÿ trios, or maybe Chk Chk Chk on steroids. Hyper Crush is so far from the norm, the only way to understand is to plug your headphones in and listen.

    Mixtape Vol.1
    Hyper Crush
    4 stars!

Holly Valentine, Preston Moronie and Donny Fontaine make up the unsigned group who mash ’80s themes with neo-electro, dance-punk vibes. Mixtape Vol.1, is now available by mail and includes a fresh “”Fuck Hyper Crush”” T-shirt with purchase.

Their first CD blows up in your ear with the tracks “”Disco Tech”” and “”Who the Fuck is Hypercrush.”” But the real highlight is “”The Delorean,”” a remix of the “”Axel F”” theme from the movie “”Beverley Hills Cop.”” The song is an assault of ’80s references laced with a beat that takes the term “”smooth”” to the next level.

“”Doo Hop”” also meshes styles, throwing rap lyrics over ’50s music. The concept may not work in your head but your ears will be so captivated that you won’t be able to think it through.

No matter what genres they’re destroying or decades they’re sampling, Hyper Crush is gonna make you dance. And at 31 tracks, Mixtape Vol. 1 is definitely worth snatching up.

The band is also consistently churning out new content, dropping the new song, “”Robo Tech,”” online earlier this week. They even have a second MySpace so fans can access as much of their music as possible.

Hyper Crush is snowballing and sooner or later their avalanche of noise is going to find you. With infectious beats and an original sound that’s addictive from the first time you hear it, it’s scary to think this is just the beginning.
