Well-rested women’s tennis to come together

Many of the No. 39 Arizona women’s tennis team players have been sick or injured throughout the season, but after a restful and efficient week of practice, the team is ready to take on its competition.

The Wildcats will play at the Robson Tennis Center today at 1:30 against No. 38 Long Beach State and No. 59 Sacramento State tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Having lost their first match of the season Sunday, the Wildcats are ready to come together in order to succeed this weekend.

“”We’re all disappointed about the loss on Sunday against (Florida International),”” team captain Danielle Steinberg said. “”But we should come together as a team this weekend.””

Steinberg was named Pacific 10 Conference Player of the Week. On top of every day of practice, she has been focusing on her movement on the court by adding extra one-on-one time with head coach, Vicky Maes.

With a little rest and an extra day off this week, the squad feels a little more healed-up. The Wildcats have been in the training room, stretching and “”taking care of their bodies,”” Maes said.

The break will be much appreciated from here on out based on the competition to come.

“”We don’t have any more easy matches,”” Steinberg said.
