Despite missing starting center Kaleb Tarczewski, No. 1 Arizona held a 34-19 lead over Southern at the half.
Tarczewski, a sophomore, sprained his ankle at Michigan on Saturday.
Freshman forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson started in Tarczewski’s place, scoring four points and grabbing five rebounds.
Hollis-Jefferson started fast, scoring Arizona’s first points 29 seconds into the game and the Wildcats’ first four points.
Freshman forward Aaron Gordon had a game high 10 points on five-for-six shooting, plus two rebounds and two assists.
Sophomore forward Brandon Ashley had eight points and six rebounds.
No Wildcats were in foul trouble.
