5-1 isn’t a bad way to start the season. From Oct. 12-14, the Arizona Wildcats hockey team called AZ Ice Gilbert their home for one game against the ranked No. 18 Missouri State Bears, and two against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Arizona dropped their first game against Missouri 2-0, but came back to win the next two nights against Arkansas, 5-2 and 7-4 respectively, raising their record to a 5-1.
Friday night the Wildcats struggled to get the puck on net and get double-digits in shots each period, but came out with a fury of shots and put on a clinic for the Razorbacks Saturday afternoon. By the end of the sixty minutes, Arizona had 47 shots on goal.
A total of nine Wildcats got in on the scoring this weekend, but none were more impressive than Anthony Cusanelli. In both games against Arkansas, Cusanelli tallied two goals and was a dominant force all throughout the game. This comes just a little over a week after his hat trick against ASU.
The Wildcats walked away with two W’s, their fourth and fifth ones of the season, and fans to cheer them on when they get back to Tucson for their next home game on Oct. 26 against the defending National Champion Central Oklahoma.
