SALT LAKE CITY — The sixth-seed Arizona Wildcats was nearly perfect in the first half against 14th-seed Harvard, and went into the locker room with a 40-22 lead.

The Wildcats received a bit of a scare six minutes into the game when forward Grant Jerrett came down hard on his right arm after an offensive rebound and put back attempt. He stayed on the floor for about 30 seconds before he was helped to the locker room. About 12 minutes later he returned to the bench, but didn’t see the court anymore before halftime.

Elsewhere the Wildcats were firing on all cylinders, and Harvard appeared rattled in their first-ever appearance in the round of 32.

Arizona shot 14-of-24 from the field (58.3 percent), 5-of-8 from three (62.5 percent) with 21 rebounds and nine assists.

Harvard didn’t hit its first field goal until freshman point guard Siyani Chambers hit a 3-pointer eight minutes into the game. At that point, Arizona led 17-5 and went on a 22-12 run in the next nine minutes to go up 22 points. The Crimson shot 7-of-28 (25 percent) in the half, 1-of-7 from three and had 13 rebounds. They started the game shooting 2-of-22.

Solomon Hill led all scorers with 12 points, Mark Lyons had 11 and Brandon Ashley led the UA with six rebounds.

Steve Mondou-Missi paced Harvard with nine points.
