The Arizona women’s golf team finished tied for third at the Pac-12 Championships at Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle this week, with an overall score of 9-over par for the tournament.  The Wildcats shot a final round score of 293 (+5), finishing 13 shots back of back-to-back Pac-12 Champion UCLA. 

UA junior Haley Moore finished the tournament at 6-under par, good for third place. Moore led the field in Par-5 scoring at 10-under par, and came in second in birdies with 15. This marked her fifth top-10 finish of the season. UCLA freshman Patty Tavatanakit bested her teammate Lilia Vu in a playoff to claim the individual title at 8-under par. 

Junior Bianca Pagdanganan tied for 14th place at 3-over par. The Gonzaga transfer has played well in her first year at Arizona, as this marks her fifth top-20 finish of the season. She was second in the field in par saves this week with 36. 

“I’m proud of the team, it was not the day we wanted but still a very respectable finish in this top conference of ours,” head coach Laura Ianello said via a press release by Arizona Athletics. “Really proud of all the ladies, they really played hard. We didn’t have our A-game’s this week, but we still played pretty darn good. Moving into next week at Regionals, we’ll look to keep improving, and eliminating mistakes.”

Freshman Yu-Sang Hou finished tied for 15th place at 4-over par. She finished tied for sixth in the field in Par-5 scoring at 4-under par. Hou has only placed outside of the top-20 once in her first year at the UA.

Sophomore Sandra Nordaas had ten birdies this weekend on the way to her best finish of the season, tying for 27th place at 8-over par. Junior Gigi Stoll also finished second in par saves with Pagdanganan, closing out the tournament tied for 34th at 12-over.

Arizona led the field in Pars, Par-3 and Par-5 scoring this week, with Moore leading the tournament overall in Par-5 scoring. The top-3 finish means Arizona has now finished every event of the spring no worse than fourth place, with two wins coming during that span also. 

Today, Arizona was selected as the No. 3 seed in the Tallahassee Regional Championships at Don Veller Seminole Golf Course & Club in Tallahassee, Florida. The regional will be hosted by Florida State, and will feature top-seeded Alabama, Furman, Washington, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, UNLV, Kennesaw State, Denver, Coastal Carolina, Missouri, College of Charleston, Richmond, and Albany.

Four 54-hole regional events will be held, with 18 teams and six individuals at each regional. The lowest scoring six teams from each NCAA Regional will advance to the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma on May 18-23.

Arizona has now been to the postseason 34 times in program history, capping them off with two national titles in 1996 and 2000, which is tied for fourth all-time.  The ‘Cats begin play May 7-9.
